November 2001 - ScotWeave Gain SMART Award
ScotCad Textiles Ltd. has become the first company in the Scottish Borders Region to gain a SMART award from the Scottish Executive.

SMART:SCOTLAND Award aims to help small businesses improve their competitiveness by developing new products and processes to benefit the national economy. SMART is an open competition between applicants - a successful applicant presenting a highly innovative and commercially viable potential new product.

In the case of ScotWeave the SMART Award means a £ 45,000 boost towards developing a new complementary software product, the details of which will be revealed at ITMA 2003

The award was obtained with the help and guidance of Scottish Enterprise Borders. SE Borders Business Manager Alistair Moir said: "This is brilliant news for an innovative and successful company with whom we have been working closely for some time. They demonstrate the kind of smart, successful working we are keen to see develop further in the Borders. This is a great example of diversification within the textile sector".
