ScotCom offers
a complete system for storing design information on a remote web
server and accessing this information in a variety of ways.
One-way
or Two-way Communications
You have full control of the system and can decide which users can
only browse the images, which users can open designs on the web
server, and which users can open and also save design to the web
server. Using a system of user identities and secure passwords
you can divert different users to different locations on the web
server and keep their data separate.
Export
Designs to Web Server
A simple export program is provided by ScotWeave which allows
you to identify those files that you wish to transfer to the web
server. Once you have "marked" the designs to be exported
they are uploaded to the web server quickly and easily. You can
attach virtually any other file types (e.g. documents, images
etc.) to files uploaded to the web server. This would allow you
to, for example, attach a document describing features of a design
which could then be viewed later.
Browsing
the Web Server
The web server can be browsed (by authorised users only) using a
standard web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer). This means
that no special ScotWeave software needs be installed to browse
design data. Depending upon the users access rights (which
you control) you can allows them to view images of the designs,
read technical specifications of the design and e-mail back
information (e.g. ordering information). The e-mail function is
automatic and goes directly to the e-mail address of the person
who operates the web server.
